I talked to a few administrators and they're letting me come on the trip to Greece at the end of the month. Someone dropped out so there's a spot if I can pay in time. Who else is going to Greece over April vacation?

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

- These people are incarnations of Gods. You can pick beautiful people for played-bys (Unless you're Hephaestus, then please think about being ugly and having a disability)
- People have flaws, Gods have flaws. Try to base their flaws off of mythology and add some fun ones of your own.

Story [06 Jan 2008|12:20am]

In the height of the Olympians' power, Gaia saw that their decadence would destroy the world of men. To protect humanity and to protect the Gods from themselves, the mother locked them away for thousands of years.

The world grew away from polytheism, Greece and Rome fell as great powers in the world, and the world grew and shifted. Now, in 2007, the Gods have been reborn as mortals. Raised in the new world as human beings, they are just beginning to awaken to their powers and memories.

Olympia Heights is a small school. The town population is 13,000 with most of that being elderly. 24% of high school students in the town attend private schools. The small population leaves class sizes small. Having fewer peers means everyone knows everyone and gossip travels fast.

Will a humanist perspective change their ways? Will old enemies find them? Will they survive until their ascension or will they be destroyed once and for all?

Rules [06 Jan 2008|12:17am]
CHARACTERS

-You may only select a God from the character list

-Create a character name that seems fitting for both the modern time period and the Greek character. Try to play off of related traits and Greek or Roman names. Example- Artemis/Diana is Diana Lily Hill. Aphrodite might not be named Venus, but her name could include Rose, Valentine, Heart/Hart, etc.

-Character powers and memories will develop as the game goes on. All characters start at AGE ONE, except the two adults, who have been awakening longer and therefore are partway through AGE TWO. At AGE ONE characters have some dreams of their deity life but would not know that they are a reincarnated God. At AGE TWO they would start to suspect it. By AGE THREE they would be fully aware of who they are and have frequent flashbacks in waking hours as well. By AGE FOUR they will be almost completely restored to their former powers. Characters will never ascend to being full Gods because that would make the game far too broken.

-Try to make their interests and home life reflect their mythology. Obviously, with all of the incest and inconsistent versions of myth, the real family trees should NOT be part of their back story. Instead think of the spirit of the character. Are they close with their father? Was their mother killed by a jealous wife? What is their driving domain?

-Certain traits of the Gods should remain intact in modern life. Zeus should not be an ever faithful boyfriend. Hestia should not be having sex. If it is one of their principal characteristics, please consider it. Yes, the characters are born human. They need to have learned something from this mortal life, but they are the same characters at heart.

-All characters must start with a sexuality and if it changes you need to get it mod approved. That doesn't mean it can't be a secret, but you need that in your application and it must be justified. This game is not meant to play out random sexual fantasies, sexuality, like any sexual plot, must be character/plot appropriate.

-Adults (Demeter and Morpheus) have to be faculty.

-No Mary Sues.

-You must have a PB and I ask that your default icon at the very least be a picture with their face, not a drawing or abstract photograph of a shoe, etc.

GAMEPLAY

-NO ADLIBBING (deciding words or actions for other player characters). Also think about power-playing, meta-gaming, and all those other nasty terms. It's not acceptable. Pressuring other players into plots an actions they DO NOT want to participate in is power playing and against the rules.

-Major plot of character developments (depression, death, new powers, pregnancy, etc.) must be cleared by moderator and if the plot involves another player's character, cleared with that player as well.

-One post in story form every 14 day MINIMUM (Once a week is highly suggested. Periodic "sweeps" will be done to clear out inactive players. We don't have to give warning, we're nice like that. One journal post per week.

-Anything that could get you in trouble at school could get you in trouble at Olympia Heights. Remember that and play it out. If you character is getting in fights or doing something major, moderation needs to know to plot accordingly. You may get busted.

-OOC Posts belong in the OOC community!

-Ask if you're not sure your character knows something. If I didn't say your character knows or their group knows, chances are they don't.

-Expect sexual content. Sex happens... especially with Greek Gods. You have a right to inform other players if you do not want your characters in sexual situations, but do not preach to those who do. That said, please don't overdo it (Have other plot) and realize that students would have to SNEAK around and it would not be easy.

-AIM transcripts go behind LJ-cut tags and should have a description and warning of sexual content. They belong, in story form, in the main community and do count as your action post.

-Do NOT be a snob. If your post is tagged, reply.

-If you keep posting open threads and nobody tags them, maybe you aren't making them open enough for characters to be comfortable slipping into. Rather than complaining that nobody will plot with you, try posting on someone else's open thread. It takes two to play... at the very least.

-Journals function as part of the Olympia Heights High server. It is a message board where students may interact and post journal entries. Some teachers may use it for classwork, asking students to post entries on world events, literature, etc. Journal entries can be made private or public or viewable only by specific members, genders, or grades.

-Don't barge in on other's threads without considering if they want to be interrupted. When in doubt, ask.

-RPing is in PAST tense, THIRD PERSON, dialogue goes in "QUOTES" Please refrain from bolding dialogue. I know what quotations mean.

PLAYERS

-Players must be active with a first character before picking up a second for one week. There is a limit of three characters per player. There is a slim possibility that if the current characters get filled, that new ones will be added, but it is not guaranteed.

-Must be 18 or older to play. We're covering our arses.

-If you get really busy and tell us so, we'll understand, but if you are always busy, never online, and it goes on for a long period of time (even if you post, I want to see taggage going on), and especially if a character's player complains about you abandoning their plot for weeks on end, I will have the right to sweep you. There is no "well her character isn't important so she can old onto her". If they inconvenience ANYONE by being non present they are important enough to sweep.

-Moderation reserves the right to boot anyone at any time without warning.

-DO NOT drop bombs in the OOC. That's what starts OOC Drama.

-BANNED PBS: I don't care if it seems snobby, I cannot stand these PBs
